Carrying the torch
30 July, 2012
Retirement, at least for those of us who carry on, can often be a bitter-sweet business. On the one hand there is joy in wishing someone a new chapter of life with plenty of R &R. On the other hand there is sadness in losing a valued colleague. And - to use a topical metaphor - the torch of the work must be passed on to new and capable hands. So things were with us at Ceramicx when we recently said goodbye to Liz Best, our accounts controller for many years: Purchasing and purchase ordering is a key element for any company. Liz did sterling work for us in that regard and we wish her all the very best for a happy retirement. To our great fortune the torch has now been successfully passed to Siobhan Lavers. Siobhan is local to us in Dunmanway, Co Cork, and has over twenty years work experience in a manufacturing environment. She is also a skilled and capable bookkeeper – conversant with manufacturing software such as SAP and accounting packages such as Sage. Her industrial background and skillsets have enabled her to fit in straightaway with the people mix at Ceramicx. Siobhan also has great skill in locating value for money and in all elements of cost control. Ceramicx is delighted to have her on board and thus to continue to keep a tight focus on that valuable work.
