Applications Engineering means a win-win partnership

Although we all largely inhabit a world where customers and suppliers are clearly and distinctly identified, issues of new work and product innovation sometimes have a way of blurring the edges. The truth is that much of Ceramicx applications engineering work - designing coating or bonding systems for clients or Infrared ovens or furnaces – sees us pushing the envelope; creating and learning new things all the time. As often as not, we end up creating a new infrared heating product which Ceramicx can then introduce to other clients and other industries.
Such was the case in our recent work for the dynamic Portuguese heating systems specialist Mecalbi. In essence Mecalbi needed an IR package that would complement and improve the performance of its Shrink Tube heating systems for industry; automotive applications especially.
For our part, the result of our IR design and build for Mecalbi was a new ‘clam-shell’ style of heater that not only serviced the job completely but now opens up further opportunities for us in similar markets. The project has truly delivered a win-win outcome for both companies. As Ceramicx continues to collaborate with our customers in engineering successful IR heating solutions we realize that, from the outset, attitude plays more than a part. The partnership model is what applies here; both parties need to invest time, energy, talent and expertise. And – significantly – there is no point beginning something that lacks the will-power or resources for its completion. Both parties must be clear on that before setting anything in motion. Our forthcoming HeatWorks magazine - issue VIII - will tell the product development story with Mecalbi in more detail. Contact us direct for your copy, available in the New Year. Meantime Ceramicx looks forward to hearing from all innovators in heat design and technology.
