Chinaplas is calling

09 May, 2013

Spring is undoubtedly in the air – and for Ceramicx that has now come to mean that our good friends in the Far East are calling.

Once again we shall be visiting the important Chinaplas exhibition, May 20-23. This annual fixture is a key focus for so much of our trading and provides us with a great impetus to introduce product innovation in that market. I personally am looking forward very much to being there in person; to renewing the strength of our business in China and the Far East and to developing and extending our trading relationships there.

As in geography, so in business: This year’s Chinaplas – which reverts to Guangzhou sees us lining up alongside our friends at the British Plastics Federation in the newly-created British and Irish Pavilion. It makes complete sense for both our nations to present our wares together on this footing.

I have written elsewhere of my belief that China intends to lead the world in quality. I do not expect my Chinaplas 2013 experiences to tell me otherwise. As a supplier I feel that it essential for me to be there in person; to learn at first hand of the next stage in development and thus to try and stay ahead of the curve.

Several of our most innovative Ceramicx IR heating products have beendeveloped specifically for Chinese and Far Eastern markets. Our business at Ceramicx recently attained an in independent ranking of World-Class manufacturing status. This new World Class manufacturing status has played particularly well in Chinese markets as has our unique way of branding and imprinting our products and providing each one with a unique thumbprint or birth certificate of its provenance.

Investment in world-class quality systems, product traceability and manufacturing performance, all of these have yielded first class fruit for Ceramicx in the Chinese market and all have benefitted from excellent timing over the past few years.

Chinese thermoformers, machine builders and Chinese plastics generally have been very quick to see the advantages in quality infrared heating (IR) heating performance and in having product supplied in this manner from Ceramicx.

Our forthcoming HeatWorks magazine contains detailed show preview news from our importer in Beijing and our new distributor GCAE. Two years in the China marketplace is really starting to reap dividends for us all. Increased geographical market penetration of China is on target; as is our growth in the traditional plastics processing markets and also in new opportunities for IR heat in all kinds of applications engineering.

Although 2012 saw China's manufacturing growth at modest levels, the current signs are that 2013 is back on the growth track; plastics included. I expect a busy show – and look forward to reporting further to you on these matters in June of this year.
