Celebrations and Reflections
30 July, 2013
Although the recent heat wave may have broken, spirits were not at all dampened on the occasion of the annual Ceramicx family day barbecue last Friday.
I personally set great store by these events: Ceramicx Ltd is a family owned and family run company and we hope and intend that positive family spirit runs through the length and breadth of our whole enterprise.
Our annual barbecue is a great way to let that happen and to break loose from our schedule for a while and just enjoy ourselves. It is also the only point in the year where I get to properly practice my bouncy castle technique.
As the barbecue got into full swing I was reminded that a full year has now passed by. Looking back over these twelve months it is clear that the pace of change continues to accelerate at Ceramicx. Indeed it has to if we are to continue to earn our stripes as a World Class producer.
In the early afternoon we got word that my son Cathal Wilson had that day, following his Viva examination, been granted his PhD doctorate. Needless to say, this added greatly to the celebrations.
This is great news, both for Cathal and for Ceramicx. In Ireland, such qualifications in applied learning are a vital and necessary part of our business world.
The land of ‘saints and scholars’ perhaps shares certain Germanic values around formal industrial qualifications. Very few of our German speaking manufacturing companies would be doing business at all without a Dipl Ing of some kind at the helm.
Speaking of which, our next HeatWorks magazine is fast-becoming the ‘German’ issue, as we prepare for the big plastics exhibition in Dusseldorf in October. Our distributor and associate Friedr Freek will be featured extensively in the coming pages and will also be contributing to our comprehensive catalogue of heat hardware, products and infrared heating elements.
More on these matters in the new magazine – available in early September. Please contact us direct for your free copy.
Many thanks again
Frank Wilson
