Keep cool – keep control – and carry on
24 July, 2013
July’s intense heatwave has triggered a few thoughts here on the need to properly and efficiently manage the comfort of our infrastructure, in particular, making sure that our built environment gets heated and cooled in an optimum way in all kinds of weather.
Our next edition of HeatWorks magazine will feature the work of an innovative UK company in that regard. Cool-Tech, based on the Suffolk/Norfolk border is doing all that it can to ensure a sensible balance of energy management when it comes to matters of heating, cooling and even lighting. Cool Tech clients range from Fortune 500 companies to retail chains to churches and schools.
Unsurprisingly, (IR) Infrared heating plays a large part in what Cool Tech does and in both the environmental and financial gain for Cool-Tech clients. Needless to say, Cool-Tech is a valued customer of Ceramicx and we look forward to developing many solutions together.
Recent UK figures show that IR heat sources can save an average cost of 65% for consumers, as against alternative fuels in oil and gas. Those are savings really worth having.
In addition, Infrared radiant heaters also have the ability to use the storage and the re-radiation of the building envelope, and can also reduce ventilation losses. In short the heat input is cheaper and the heat source and energy is far more efficient.
The key, however, according to founder and managing director Collen Baker is to apply joined-up thinking with all of the energy inputs – infrared included. ‘One brain; one control system; one comfort set-point” is how Collen puts it – and that includes all the energy-based technologies of heating, air conditioning and lighting.
It’s a message that will be heard increasingly in our energy conscious times. In addition to the sale, supply and installation of heating, cooling and lighting systems, Collen’s company has a large servicing and maintenance department in order to ensure that clients stay on track with good energy practices. Cool Tech Ltd is in fact now the largest evaporative cooler specialist regarding servicing / after-care in the UK.
All homes and businesses have clear environmental and financial reasons for getting involved with these ideas and practices – benefits include reducing carbon footprint and lowering overhead costs.
HeatWorks 10, containing the full Cool-Tech article will print in early September. To order your free copy, simply contact us directly at Ceramicx.
Many thanks again
Frank Wilson.
